Each partner ran the business for three months at a time while living on site, however before Griffin completed her first rotation, she fell in love with Louisville and decided to stay. The new business venture was so successful that the friends decided to open a second location in Louisville, Kentucky. Luckily, the current owner of Paul’s Hat Works was willing to train the new owners for six months before handing it over. Although experienced in clothing and fashion design, she admitted that she had never constructed a hat. ![]() Because owning a hat shop had always been a dream of hers and because a couple of friends agreed to be business partners, Griffin purchased her first business in 2009. While in San Francisco, she said she came across an historic hat shop – Paul’s Hat Works, established in 1918 – that happened to be for sale. The story of how Griffin came to live across the country is as interesting as her head-covering creations. These days, Griffin is using her sewing skills to make fabric face masks to help nursing homes in her new hometown of Lousiville, Kentucky combat the COVID-19 pandemic. 3 Broomsticks Bar is also in the house serving Louisville festive and spooky cocktails. Shortly thereafter, Griffin moved to San Francisco to attend San Francisco State University where she studied dance, costume design and fashion design as a triple-major.
